WSP Task Order Coordinator Dave Jackson Goes Viral
If you are among the millions of users who regularly visit social media sites, there’s a good chance at some point you’ve seen WSP USA Inspection Services’ own Dave Jackson in your news feed; perhaps without even realizing it!
Dave Jackson, who is currently a Task Order Coordinator for the project, has worked for WSP for 22 years. He was hired as an inspector in 2000 and went on to become a Field Trainer in 2007 and a Field Operations Manager in 2009. Dave has represented the project on disasters all over the continental United States, as well as the territorial islands of Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa.
Dave originally shared the photo seen here on Facebook in 2018. It was his wife who captured the photo of him standing alongside a busy Florida highway, holding a sign which reads: “Not homeless, daughter plays on a travel volleyball team!”
At the time, Dave planned to share the photo on Facebook with a group that consists of youth volleyball players, their families, and supporters. He said he spent almost $3,000 for his daughter to join a local travel league and thought others with similar experiences would find his photo amusing.
"My wife said, 'Get away from the street before someone that knows us sees you!' I said, 'Just take the picture. No one is gonna see it,’” Dave explains.
Since then, it has been shared hundreds of thousands of times on the social media platform by people who can relate to the financial burden of their own interests and hobbies. Variations of the image have been spotted on pages for all sorts of enthusiasts: car, plant, music gear, motorcycle, cheer team, and cryptocurrency to name a few!
