The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season is expected to have a near-average number of hurricanes and tropical storms, per an updated outlook released May 31 by the Colorado State University (CSU). Colorado State University expects 13 more named storms, six hurricanes and two major hurricanes. This forecast is near the 30-year average for the number of hurricanes and tropical storms in the Atlantic Basin. Below-average sea-surface temperatures are expected to influence hurricane season.
